Cast Iron Apple Crisp

INGREDIENTS

  • 5-6 apples (mcintosh, honeycrisp, etc) – peeled and cored
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup rolled oats
  • 1.5 tbsp butter
  • pinch of salt
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp bourbon

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat oven brothers wood-fired outdoor oven to 350f
  2. Grease a 6.5 inch cast iron skillet with butter
  3. Chop apples into bite-sized pieces
  4. Toss the apples with the white sugar and cinnamon
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the skillet
  6. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, rolled oats, butter and salt with the back of a fork.
  7. Spoon the mixture over the apples
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the apples are tender and the top is golden
  9. Remove from the oven, let stand a few minutes, then serve with ice cream.
